After getting the season off to winning ways last week with a 7-2 win over Across The Waves, the ladies were determined to keep improving and were determined to
keep the great start to the season on track. Their captain was back from living up thenight life in BrisVegas the week before and despite a heavy downpour before the game, the ladies were focused on the game at hand.
It only took 4 minutes for the Villa defence to be opened up when Brooke Harrington put pressure on the keeper and was rewarded with a deflected goal. Brooke then doubled her tally with a well placed finish from a Meg Freeman cross. Brooke then became provider as she made a decisive run and passed across the goal where Nikita Markey had a great first touch and slotted the ball comfortably into the side of the goal. Meg Mason then got her name on the board with a well struck shot from the 18 yard box that gave the goal keeper no hope and would have beaten the best of keepers. Villa then conceded an own-goal from a corner, followed 2 minutes later with a tap in from Meg Freeman to get her first goal in first division. The halftime score was 6-0 with Villa producing only 1 shot at goal in the first half.
The first 7 minutes of the second half saw 3 more goals with Megan Cranston, Sophie Zipf and Nikita Markey getting her second goal of the night, completely outplay and dominate the Villa defence. It took a further 33 minutes for the team to score the tenth goal of the night with M-S scoring a cracker from the top of the box, hitting the under side of the crossbar and condemning Villa to a comprehensive 10-0 scoreline.
As a whole, the ladies played some exceptional football with all players contributing to the performance. Sarah Bretag was voted best on ground, with Meg Mason second and Nikita Markey third. Next week sees the team take on Bingera at 6pm and we are looking at continuing our dominant start to the season.
Well Done Ladies!!
