Div 2 ladies kept their unbeaten start to the season on track with a 2-0 win over ATW Saints on field 3.
The game got off to a quick start with a ripping strike from Jasmin that was just saved by the ATW keeper. After that, the rest of the first half was played largely in ATW's offensive half, but both sides went to the half-time break without scoring.
In the second half Bella hit the back of the net with a well-timed chip from a corner putting UPE in front 1-0.
With around 10 minutes to go Jade was able to get past the ATW defence and setup Tanina who put in a gut busting run to get into position and score a second UPE goal, her first in the ladies competition. ATW's defence was rock-solid all night and Marie was close to their best with her pace consistently shutting down forays forward by UPE.
The defensive unit of Emily, Jas, Bec and Ruby, with assistance at times from Jasmin and Chloe again kept a clean sheet and are still yet to concede a goal this season. ATW's striker Tasha looked threatening all night but was consistently frustrated by Emily's defense. In the second half ATW had a number of penalties but were unable to capitalize.
In the midfield Taylor H had a cracking game whilst Fiona, Bella and Carly continued their on-field leadership.
The team will be back next Friday against Diggers who will be coming off a strong showing against ATW United.
